thief, robber

"Chorro" is one of the most common slang words used in Argentina, even on the news. It means robber or thief, and comes from the now archaic word "chorear" which meant "to steal nonviolently or sneakily". Despite the nonviolent qualification of the verb, it is used to describe all types of thieves nowadays.
