urban-style of dress and music; ghetto fabulous

"Los Wachiturros" are a cumbia boy-band popular among working-class Argentine youth. The word "wachiturro" with a lowercase "w" refers to the general style of music and dress. The word comes from "gaucho" which means "wild" or "orphan" and "turro" which originally means a loser or someone disloyal. "Turro" however has been redefined by wachiturros to refer to an urban-style of dress usually with athletic brands such as Adidas or Nike. It many ways it is similar to "ghetto fabulous" hip-hop culture in the United States.
